Struggling

I must admit, I’m starting to struggle with this sock challenge.

Oh, don’t get me wrong! I am still loving socks and want to knit the 300+ in my queue, but I miss spinning…..and knitting lace shawls…….and big chunky sweaters!

I don’t have time to do ANY of these; on average it takes me about a week to knit a pair.  By now, I’m supposed to have completed 15 pairs and be casting on pair 16.  I have finished 13 pairs and while I have pairs 14, 15 & 16 in progress, each of them are taking their time to be completed and my poor spinning wheel is feeling neglected! I’ve got a HUGE fibre stash to spin too!

I also want to learn how to sew – realistically not something I can afford to do this year as I’m saving to move off the Island, but part of me is feeling like the socks are…..getting in the way! In a way it’s been made worse as Bridget – who used to make wedding dresses(!) has offered to teach me to sew!

Mel is getting married in October and I’ve agreed to knit I Do for her to wear – when the hell am I supposed to find time for that?!?

I’m beginning to wonder if I should give up the socks……

Wow, you’ve made 13 pairs of socks since the beginning of the year! I don’t even make 13 pairs in a year. Give yourself a break. You’ve more than met the challenge, and believe me, no one will think you’re a failure. Knitting is supposed to be enjoyable, not stressful. You can finish the other 3 pairs of socks in a leisurely manner, in between shawls and sweaters.
