Some finished stuff

Aquarius

I’ve been a bit lax in blogging about knitting lately.

I can’t remember what I’ve told you about so I’ll give you the whole shebang on this next project.

Aquarius with first Shetland braid

I spun a 3 ply heavy laceweight yarn from 100g of a merino/silk blend from World of Wool called Aquarius and 2 x 100g of Shetland from The Thylacine called My Island Home.

I spun this during the 2012 Tour de Fleece. It was a dream to spin and I wanted to find a pattern that would show off the gorgeous colours!

I toyed with the idea of making yet another Spider’s-web shawl from Victorian Lace Today, but I had some other fibre that was begging to go with that pattern.

3-ply yarn

After a bit of discussion with Claire, we decided to have a Cap Shawl knitalong.

I found this fabulous cast on for a circular shawl using Judy Becker’s Magic Cast On and it made the centre a lot neater and I will use it for all my circular shawls from now on!

I really enjoyed making this shawl, it wasn’t hugely challenging but was compelling!

It took 28 days to make and it’s gorgeous!

That’s a kingsize bed!

Isn’t it stunning? And, just because I’m a show-off (what knitter isn’t?), here’s me modelling it in the garden!

The Cap Shawl

I have finished some other items, but I can’t show you those as they’re Christmas presents and I don’t want the recipients to see them :)
